AIRFIELD
Make sure you follow the instructions and destroy the communications
building before the tackling the Mig-29s. It helps to know the difference
between the aircraft types - C-130s (4 engine prop planes), Cessnas (single
engine prop) and Migs (twin tail jets with a red star) There are artillery
strikes available for each target, however, the comm building can also
be destroyed with a satchel charge, and the aircraft can also be destroyed
with several rounds of LAW rockets or grenades, which means you can use
the artillery fire to take care of BRDMs or other targets. As an added
bonus and just for fun, keep your eye on the C-130 on the airstrip once
the comm building is destroyed. SECRETS: When
the troops patrolling the back of the mountain (near your start point)
are eliminated, a Hind is activated. After the helo is destroyed, the next
one is activated within 30 to 60 seconds, and then a third helo. A similar
replacement routine runs for the BRDM patrolling behind the hangar and
several of the foot patrols. One
method of attack is to go over the mountain, which can be climbed from
the right side. If you do this before eliminating the mountain patrol,
the helos won't be activated, and you can drop grenades on all of them
as they sit idle next to the comm building.
SA-STRIKE
The SAMs can be brought down with artillery missions, LAWs, or grenades.
It's a good idea to try and eliminate all of the enemy force before capturing
the pilot (located in the comm building), or they will attempt to shoot
him. SECRETS: The
pilot is actually a member of the other team and will fire on you. He changes
to your team when you get close enough to him, meaning enemy players will
then begin targeting him. The best way to capture him is to crawl as closely
as possible. When you are close enough he will turn and run to the helo.
DROP-IN
There really is no mission here - it's simply an excuse to get on the
trigger and mow down everything in sight. There is some extra ammo located
across the valley directly behind the player starting point. For an interesting
challenge, try the mission with a variety of weapons. You can be incredibly
effective by crawling around in tall grass and using a knife. NO SECRETS
DRUG LORD
Don't forget that the mission instructions say you must destroy all
of the vehicles, which includes the limo, the truck and the boat. It takes
16 grenades to destroy the boat, so carrying a satchel charge is a better
idea. Sneaking around and swimming to the boat and destroying it first
is a good place to start. SECRETS: If
the troops on the boat dock are killed, the boat leaves and heads toward
the extraction point. When the boat is destroyed the truck takes off and
heads toward extraction. When the laptop is obtained, it activates a Gazelle
helo which looks for you between the target location and extraction. There
are several snipers in the extraction area.
COMPOUND
Watch for patrols outside of the compound, and
watch for snipers in the towers and on roof tops. You can get inside the
compound by going over the top of the concrete bunkers. It takes a satchel
charge to destroy the armory, but since you have to gi inside the armory
to deploy it anyway, you can always pick one up while you're there, and
use your available carrying capacity to carry extra LAWs for the BRDMs
and Helos. SECRETS: Not many secrets
to this one.. there are several enemy soilders waiting for you inside the
armory.
FIREBASE
For best results, use the MP5 and a supressed
.45 and be sneaky. It's a failry easy mission, unless you alert the troops
and the helos come after you. SECRETS: alerting
the troops activates a Havoc helo. Destroying it activates another. Both
are located at in the hangar and can be destroyed before activation if
you're careful. A third helo located off-island is activated once the targets
are destroyed. There are also several soldiers patrolling the extraction
point.
SINKER
Carry the M4/M203 combo, the satchel charge and
LAWs. Try to use the M203 to take out large troop concentrations in order
to get close enough to the boat to sink it. Once you sink the boat, you'll
encounter a lot of soldiers, and several helos patrol the area. If you
are out of LAWS, you should be able to avoid the helos by taking the long
route to extraction. NO SECRETS.
TRANSFER
This one works well with the M40 and lots of
crawling through the grass. Concentrate on the snipers in the towers first.
NO
SECRETS.
HELOBASE
Enjoy the show as your helos flee the base
while it comes under attack. Eliminate the BRDMs as quickly as possible,
then have fun getting the troops. SECRETS: The
whole attack on the base is activated as you move forward into the base.
By moving immediately backwards, you can prolong the start of the attack,
and the alert status of the enemy troops.
SNIPER
Carry the M40 and a suppressed .45, and the ghillie
suit. Use the .45 to eliminate any troops you encounter prior to
hitting the general (the only bald guy in the target camp). SECRETS:The
enemy troops in the towers are not looking at your designated path, and
are best left alone. Only a few guards (standing next to the jeep on the
roadway directly in your path) need to be eliminated before you crawl to
the hill overlooking the camp and snipe the general. Once you hit him,
every enemy solidier in the game heads for the extraction point.
RESCUE
It's a good idea to take the rebreather gear
on this mission, and do a lot of swimming. Try to elimnate the tower guards
first, then go for the large force of troops patrolling the island. There
is one hostage in the apartment building, so be careful about getting into
a prolonged battle with troops in the building who might shoot him while
trying to get you. For the same reason, it's a good idea to make sure all
of the enemy troops are eliminated before freeing any of the hostages.
The helicopter was shot down off the northeast corner of the island. SECRETS:Once
you eliminate the guards in the bottom of the apartment building, the hostage
changes from nuetral to your team, which means the enemy will begin targeting
him as he flees down the stairs and makes a run for the boat. It's better
to use the outside ladder and enter the building from the top floor. Once
the data recorder is retrieved from the underwater helo, a platoon of enemy
soldiers will head for the island, so save that duty until the hostages
are safe.
BIOHAZZARD
It's best to rescue the pilot first, and escort
him to extraction. Make sure you get ahead of him and clear the way. The
antidote is located inside the KA-29 at the crash site, and you will die
if you approach the plane before you obtain it. SECRETS: The
pilot is liocated in a tent with 2 guards. If you kill the guard on the
east side, the pilot changes from nuetral to your team, and will be targeted
by the other guard. It's best to sneak around and kill the other guard
first. Once you obtain the data recorder from the crash site, another platoon
of soldiers enters the game and chases you to the extraction point.
TAKEOVER
This is simply one of the toughest missions I
have made (even if you like to cheat). The best strategy is to target the
soldiers who are in close proximity to the civilians first, to quickly
minmize the chances of them shooting civilians as they target you. SECRETS:After
a certain number of enemy soldiers are killed, the civilians are changed
from nuetral to your team, and will be purposely targeted by the enemy.
The best strategy is described above.
ROCKET
You can by-pass a lot of the soldiers patrolling
the islands. As in a lot of the games involving civilians or non-combatants,
it's important not to put yourself in a situation battling the enemy which
leaves Condor in a crossfire. It's also important to clear his path to
the extraction point. NO SECRETS.
TERRORIST
This is a fairly straightforward kill 'em all
type mission. Try it several times using different weapons and have fun.
NO
SECRETS.
BOATRIDE
This is another straightforward kill 'em all
mission, except for the fact that you get to do it while riding on a boat,
and later on a Blackhawk. You can find fairly adequate cover inside the
cockpit of he boat. NO SECRETS.
ELIMINATE
The M40 works well to clear your way into the
prison compound, since you start the mission on a hill above the target
area. There are a heavy number of troops on several patrols around the
area, and about a half of a dozen prisoners who need to be eliminated.
SECRETS:
The prisoner in the northwest cell will
flee once any of the other prisoners are eliminated. If he reaches the
boat and escapes, the mission is over. There are a number of snipers around
the extraction area who remain dormant until the prisoners are eliminated.
TANK-KILL
Don't waste your time battling the troops at
the base - it's just a distraction to draw your attention away from the
real mission, killing the tank. SECRETS: This
isn't much of a secret if you're used to playing the game, but the only
way to kill the tank is with an artillery strike. The trick is to catch
the vehicle out in the open so you have enough time to hold the laser pointer
on the moving target. If it moves behind a hill and you miss, there went
your only shot. By the way, there will be a welcoming party waiting for
you at the extraction point.
VILLAGE
It's probably best not to be in the middle of
the village when the attack ensues, because a pretty furious battle takes
place and it will be hard not to be caught in cross fire. Watch your sight
for the friendly fire warning, or for some real fun, turn that feature
of the game off. SECRETS: There
are 6 helos, with about 3 enemy troops each. Although you can shoot at
them before they land, they are not the major threat - the majority of
the enemy players come from over the cliff behind the village. If you're
quick, you can intercept them before they get to the village.
SNOW VALLEY
Watch your path as you para-drop into the mission. It is possible to
glide right into the town, but for best results, start on the hills above
the town. Some of the buidlings require entry to clear. There are enemy
soldiers in every building on the map, even the ones you cannot enter.
Most of the civilians will be dead by the time you get there. NO SECRETS.
